Instructions for use

General Instructions for Use (for specific application, see further on this page):

Ensure that UF2000 always comes into sufficient contact with the remaining urine residues by allowing it to soak in well and applying enough UF2000. Spray directly on the urine spot and let UF2000 work for some time. Do not scrub or rub. The urine stain to be treated must be in full contact with UF2000 for a long enough period to effectively neutralize the urine odor. Then let the treated area dry naturally.

Removing Urine Odor from Stone or Concrete

Untreated stone or concrete may look like a solid material, but it actually acts like a hard sponge that easily absorbs urine through many small openings. This means that the urine can easily penetrate deep into the stone or concrete, making the odor removal process more challenging. For the best results, follow the steps below:

1. Do not use other (chemical) cleaning agents or masking agents!
2. Ensure the floor is completely dry. If there are still adhesive residues from carpeting on the floor, remove them first.
3. Clean the surface by sweeping and dusting it. Spray UF2000 generously (saturate) on the urine spot using the trigger spray bottle or a low-pressure sprayer (such as a plant sprayer or pesticide sprayer). Make sure to apply at least as much UF2000 as there is likely to be urine in the material.
4. Cover the area with plastic for 1 to 2 hours to prevent rapid evaporation and ensure that UF2000 penetrates well into the concrete or stone.
5. Note that during the first treatment with UF2000 on an old urine stain, the urine odor may initially become more intense. This indicates that the urine is slowly dissolving and coming to the surface.
6. Remove the plastic and dry the area. Reapply UF2000. Allow the area to dry for 1 to 2 hours (depending on the temperature, this may take shorter or longer).
7. Apply UF2000 every 1 to 2 hours (drying time) until the urine odor is completely eliminated.
8. Once the urine odor and stain are removed, remove the residue with a little water and blot it with a paper towel or dry cloth.

Removing Urine Odor from Wooden Floors

Urine stains on wooden floorboards or hardwood floors are among the most difficult to remove, especially when repeated urination has darkened the wood. The dark spots indicate an accumulation of dried urine salts (urine crystals) and that the wood has already been damaged by the acidic urine.

1. By performing several treatments, UF2000 can completely remove the urine odor and largely eliminate the accumulation of dried salt crystals.
2. Unfortunately, our product cannot repair the damage to the wood.
3. This can usually be made acceptable by light sanding and a subsequent treatment (with wax or varnish).
4. Before sanding and finishing with wax or varnish, first remove the urine spot with UF2000.
5. By initially treating the urine spots several times, it will be easier to touch up the eroded spots later.
6. The following instructions are for a floor with multiple urine spots.
7. Start by spraying the urine sources with UF2000.
8. Then apply UF2000 to the entire floor. Cover the wet floor with a piece of plastic to prevent UF2000 from evaporating too quickly. After applying UF2000, the urine odor usually becomes slightly stronger after some time because the odor is coming to the surface.
9. Remove the plastic after about 30 minutes and dry the floor with paper towels.
10. Repeat the treatment every 30 minutes until all the urine odor is removed. Each treatment will improve the surface condition; the dark spots will become lighter in color and smaller in diameter until all the urine is completely removed.
11. Treat the urine spots (sources) separately until all spots are nearly gone or lightened, which means the urine is removed. Then let the wooden floorboards dry.
12. After the last treatment, wipe the floor with a little water and then dry it.

By using UF2000, the urine odor will disappear, the dark spots will be reduced, and it will be easier to make the floor look new again by sanding and/or treating it with varnish or wax. Often, after using UF2000, the floor is so clean that no further treatment is necessary.

Removing Urine Odor from Carpeting or Fabric Furniture

IMPORTANT!! Always check the colorfastness of the material to be treated by testing the product first on an inconspicuous area!

1. For fresh urine spots: Do not use other (chemical) cleaning agents or masking agents. Also, do not use carpet shampoos.
2. If you plan to shampoo or clean your carpet, do so only after removing the urine odor and stains with UF2000.
3. First, absorb as much urine as possible by blotting with a paper towel. Do not press with your shoe, as this can leave urine traces on your carpet or rug. Use your hands to press the paper towel; wash them well with soap afterward or preferably use protective plastic gloves.
4. Use the spray bottle to saturate the urine spot and the underlying layer well with UF2000 (for best results, it is essential that UF2000 comes into full contact with the urine absorbed in the material). Then let the spot dry normally.
5. Once the urine odor and/or stain are removed, remove the residue with a little water and blot the area with a paper towel. This is important as otherwise, the residue can attract dirt again.

For old, dried urine stains:

It is possible that persistent urine stains have damaged the color of your carpet. Even complete urine removal with UF2000 cannot solve this problem.

1. Do not use other (chemical) cleaning agents or masking agents. Also, do not use carpet shampoos.
2. If you plan to shampoo or clean your carpet, do so only after removing the urine odor and stains with UF2000.
3. Use the spray bottle to saturate the urine spot and the underlying layer well with UF2000 (for best results, it is essential that UF2000 comes into full contact with the urine absorbed in the material). Then let the spot dry normally.
4. For very old and difficult-to-remove urine stains:
   • Apply UF2000 generously (saturation) to the stain and cover it with a piece of plastic to allow UF2000 to work longer.
   • Note that during the first treatment with UF2000 on an old urine stain, the urine odor may initially become more intense. This often occurs with old, severe urine stains and indicates that the urine is slowly dissolving and coming to the surface.
   • Remove the plastic after a few hours and dry the wet spot with a paper towel or cloth.
   • Repeat the above treatment for a few days until the urine stain is no longer visible or the urine odor is completely removed (in some cases, 3 to 4 treatments may be necessary).
5. Once the urine odor and stain are removed, remove the residue with a little water and blot it with a paper towel or dry cloth. This is important as otherwise, the residue can attract dirt again (and rings may form).

You smell urine but cannot trace the exact spot?

Locate the urine stains invisible to the naked eye with the handy Ecodor ‘Urine Seeker’ lamp. The salts present in (dried) urine will illuminate under the lamp, making it easier to treat the “source.” Make the room dark and scan the surface by shining the search lamp about 10 cm above the surface. White/green illuminated spots indicate urine (salts). Treat these spots with UF2000 according to the above instructions.
